Coach Stadelman has been the Boys Varsity Head coach since the 2012 Spring season. Previous to that, he coached the girls from 2003 to 2013 as an Assistant Varsity Coach and from 2018 – 2021 as the Head Varsity coach. During his four years as the girls head coach, the teams record was 56 – 19 and they were WPIAL runner-up in 2020 and 2021 and PIAA semifinalists in 2021. Before serving as the head Boys Varsity coach, he was the Assistant Varsity Coach of the Boys program since 2004. He also coached at Renaissance Volleyball Club for one season as the 16 Black Head Coach and he currently serves as the Director of Volleyball Operations for North United Volleyball Club since 2022-23. In addition to coaching, he also officiates Volleyball for the Golden Triangle Chapter of Volleyball Officials since 2017. He played Volleyball at Carrick High School where he graduated from in 1997.
He helped lead his girls teams to section championships in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2013 and the boys in 2007 and 2023. The girls team has made playoffs in 11 out of his 12 years coaching and boys each season since 2017. The boys team in 2023 also earned its schools first WPIAL Championship and finished as State Runner-ups.
Coach Stadelman is a Math Teacher and Math Department Chair at Shaler Area High School where he has been teaching since 2002. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 2001 and a Master's Degree is Secondary Math Education in 2006. He has also taught as a part-time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh in the Mathematics Department.
He believes that a balance of strength, conditioning and volleyball skills leads to a better overall volleyball player and helping players realize their potential through hard-work and effort. Also, his student athletes are held to higher expectations of punctuality, integrity, and character on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. His student athletes develop skills that transfer into the classroom and into their personal and professional lives. He believes that a successful girls volleyball team begins with solid fundamental skills and a strong defensive philosophy.
In his free time, Coach enjoys watching the Penguins and Steelers, hunting, fishing, and doing work around his house.
